I so totally agree with you - every institution in our culture needs to change, our culture needs to change. And many of us know that, but very few are doing anything about it.

I do. The action would be to really envision what you want this world to look like. Share it. Have it repeated back to you. Breathe it in. I truly believe our fear takes over and we cling to the past and do not take risks based on the ...past. I feel that creation begins with being able to let go of lines, roles, boxes, norms and fears. If this is too complex, simply start by saying out loud, "I am not afraid and today I am going to take a risk that I am afraid to take." Soon we will connect and become more conscious rather than unconscious.Perhaps hugging a person you have had trouble judging or cannot forgive. Perhaps speaking up without feeling emotionally attached to the listener's response. Perhaps letting your child have food on their face without sighing and wiping i...t off for them...letting things exist without judging...but being aware of when they are out of sync with our greatest intentions. Then imagining what feelings may accompany the ideal or more harmonious way and feeling them. Breathing and being aware have helped me. The acceptance and action parts get me stuck, so I breathe and keep starting over. Reading...another pass time that creates creativity vs. TV. Perhaps my action ideas should become another guru v minute. thanks shalini. Anyone who wants to join this mission formally can go to the 'go guru v' page and make it official. This info only goes to me.;) Someday I may rally the Guru V People so join now!!!

Jen, your passion in eradicating old precepts of care is contagious and, God willing, will spill over to others who need just a wee bit of encouragement to "stick by their guns" when it comes to the care of their child. Society has previously not allowed parents to be involved much in the care of those with various diseases and afflictions. And, not wanting anything but "the best" (which sometimes turns out to be "the worst") for our children, we believe what others "in authority" tell us we must do.

Please know that I am a poet and a scientist...so how I deal with discomfort is I ask questions, I manipulate words and rhythms and I dance around issues that I feel strongly about. When I use the word dance, please know that I am no ballerina...I prefer sharp, awkward maneuvers that express my passion. So when I dance around issues, there is no guessing how I feel about them...take nothing personal but please
take action. zen jen |
