Jen Hagen (Zen Jen) built the Guru V People website herself via Weebly's free webhosting site back in 2010. As a single mom of two children (now adults) on the autism spectrum she believed that her family had some great adventures to share that may inspire a more inclusive world. Every week she exposed her family's autism adventures via short videos she called 'Guru V Minute with Zen Jen' where she shared stories and videos of their extreme life.
She believes her children are her gurus and that the current model of isolation was socially inhibiting the growth of many. Jen feels that the experience of learning Jus and Bri's guru v (groovie) ways is both enlightening and constantly challenging...where the playful title of Zen Jen arose.
Jen's vision of love, connection and adventure lead her to advocate and teach many families and most recently create the nonprofit corporation so that her dream could be a reality for many.
A paradigm shift where all people live outside the box and go big: Jen's vision.
Adventures offer their family a feeling of freedom in their often restricted world. They ski, skate, mountain bike, mountaineer, surf, camp, dance, play soccer, create art and travel across the country. Taking on these adventures is no simple task and requires extreme awareness, athleticism and perseverance.
Jen believes that the more people families have, the more Guru V they will feel, no matter what their adventure is.
All adventures require courage and commitment. And autism adventures often require an extensive amount of support and attention. Guru V People is on a mission to ensure that the flame of saying yes and going big are given the urgent support required to fuel passion and connection for all.
Freedom Lifts You. Give autism adventurers the support they need to FLY.
